Divisions, Categories:

A – Projected Images Division (PID) -Open/General-Color
B – Projected Images Division (PID)-Open/General-Monochrome
C – Projected Images Division (PID)-Special theme: LOVE
D – Projected Images Division (PID)-Special theme: Portrait and Nude

PID-Monochrome refers to PSA definition:

An image is considered to be Monochrome only if it gives the impression of having no color (i.e. contains only shades of gray which can include pure black and pure white) OR it gives the impression of being a grayscale image that has been toned in one color across the entire image. (For example by Sepia, red, gold, etc.)

A grayscale or multi-colored image modified or giving the impression of having been modified by partial toning, multi toning or by the inclusion of spot coloring does not meet the definition of monochrome and shall be classified as a Color Work.

• The exhibition will monitor entries for images and Images that do not meet the definition shall be disqualified.

• If time permits, the entrant shall be notified the image does not meet the definition and requested to resubmit an image that does meet the definition.

GENERAL RULES

1.1 The Ozone Zone Photo Salon on-line digital competition is open to everyone except those involved in its organization. The organizers of the Competition are staff of Ozone Zone (we/us), a company registered in BC, Canada, and in Roseau, Dominica, West Indies.

The exhibition is open to anyone; however, an entry may be rejected when the sponsoring organization or its agent, in its reasonable discretion, believes the entry does not conform to the exhibition rules and conditions. Entries are limited to not more than 4 images per section, category, or class. An entrant’s four images will be distributed throughout four rounds of judging in that section.

1.2 By entering into the Competition you agree to abide by the following rules (Rules).

1.3 Entries must originate as photographs (image-captures of objects via light sensitivity) made by the entrant on photographic emulsion or acquired digitally. By virtue of submitting an entry, the entrant certifies the work as his own (aliases are not permitted). The entrant permits the sponsors to reproduce all or part of the entered material free of charge for publication and/or display in media related to the exhibition. This may include low resolution posting on a website. Note: Entrants who indicate that their images may not be reproduced or used “will not be eligible for awards” or inclusion in audio-visuals of the exhibition “and could be subject to disqualification” by the exhibition sponsors.

You may enter an image that has previously been entered into or has won another photography competition, provided that, by doing so, you are not in breach of the terms and conditions of the other photography competition. Images previously entered to our salon CAN NOT be submitted again.

The exhibition assumes no liability of any misuse of copyright. the photographic content predominates, subject to Nature, Photo Travel and Photojournalism divisional restrictions. All final work must be on photographic film, or on electronic file, or on photographic or electronic print material, mounting excepted.

No title or identification of the maker shall be visible anywhere on the face of an image, print mat or mount entered in a PSA Recognized exhibition. Each image must have a unique title. Once an image has been accepted in a PSA Recognized exhibition, that same image, or a like “in camera” or a “reproduction” duplicate of that image: i. May not be re-entered in any section of the same Division Star Ratings class in that exhibition regardless of media, format, or title. ii. May not be re-titled for entry in any other PSA Recognized exhibition. Words such as “Untitled” and “No Title” are not acceptable as part or all of an image’s title, nor are camera capture filenames.

1.4 All entries must be uploaded via our on-line page. No other forms of submission are accepted.

1.5 No uploaded images will be returned, but all images, apart from those short-listed for awards and finalists, will be deleted after the close of the Competition and judging.

1.6 You can use any type of camera or mobile phone to create your images. It is recommended that you use the highest image quality setting your camera can achieve.

1.7 The closing date for entries is indicated on Competition information page

1.8 We support actively the Artists’ Bill of Right, helping to protect all photographers’ rights. http://artists-bill-of-rights.org We adhere to guidance to professional ethics listed on ABR site.

1.9 A digital catalogue will be produced showing all accepted and winning works. It will also include all stats and info about the exhibition/salon. It will be sent to all participants, free of charge, by the date listed on our schedule.

1.10 As our salon runs under patronage of FIAP, all participants must accept acceptance rules stated in FIAP document 2014/317 E  (http://patronages.fiap.net/assets/info-317-patronage-e.pdf) in order to submit their works.

 

2. ENTRY FEES

2.1 Entry to the Ozone Zone International Photo Salon Competition is subject to payment of entry fees, depending in how many categories and images you wish to enter.

2.2 The sections of the Competition and the entry fees are in US Dollars as follows: Ozone Zone Photo Salon single images (up to 4 images)

(a) Up to 4 images in any single category: fee $13 (US Dollars) per category. (b) A further 4 images in any additional category: $13 per category.

(Early Bird fee is reduced to only $10 per category)
DISCOUNT is given for entering all 4 categories.

Entries are limited to not more than 4 images per section, category, or class.

An entrant’s four images will be distributed throughout four rounds of judging in that section.

2.3 The categories of the Competition are shown on Competition information page and are as follows: Open Color, Open Monochrome, Special theme – LOVE, Special theme – Portrait and Nude.

No obscene, hate, profanity, or derogatory images are allowed. They will be deleted without refund.

2.4 Payment of entry fees can be made on line by PayPal only.

2.5 Payments are in US Dollars. The exchange rate applied between US Dollars and other currencies will be that defined by the Paypal system at the time of payment . Ozone Zone does not exercise any control over these rates.

2.6 You have the right to cancel your order within seven days, but not later than entry closing date.

CLUB DISCOUNTS
We offer 20% discount for over 6 entrants entering together from a single club, and 25% discount for over 10 entrants. Discount is calculated from the FULL fee ($10 Early Bird per section, and $13 regular entry per section. Further discount for entering all sections is NOT available).  Please contact us to enter as a group.

3. WINNING ENTRIES

Our Salon runs under patronage of PSA, FIAP, RPS, GPU, MOL, and IUP

That means each category winners will receive PSA, FIAP, RPS and, GPU, MOL, and IUP, as well as our Ozone Zone

Medals. Overall best image winner will receive our Grand Prix award. Best Author receives FIAP Blue Pin.

Ozone Zone, PSA, RPS, FIAP, GPU, MOL, and IUP Honourable Mention ribbons will be given in all three categories.

All accepted entries will also count towards photo distinction programs, with Dominica as the host country.

2.1 A digital catalog – free of charge – will be offered to all participants. It will include gallery of winners and finalists, along with full list of successful participants, stats and jury comments.

4. CRITERIA FOR ENTRY

4.1 No title or identification of the maker shall be visible anywhere on the face of an image, print mat or mount entered in a PSA Recognized exhibition.

4.2 Image files should be uploaded to the Site as jpegs in size of max. 1920 pixels length and 1080 height, and maximum 2mb in size.
No responsibility can be taken by the organizers for images that are incorrectly submitted. Images will NOT be resized to best fit the HD screen used for judging and presentations.

No borders and NO WATERMARKS. Images with a visible name or website will be removed. Judging is anonymous and no information suggesting the author can be visible on the image.

Color space recommended is sRGB, titles should contain only English letters and numbers. No special characters such as % * # etc. are allowed, as they may jam uploading system.

4.3 Image files larger than 2mb may be deleted by the system administrator. Normally this will be notified to the photographer but this cannot be guaranteed.

4.4 Post capture processes by software such as Photoshop is allowed, but not for the purpose of claiming an artificial subject to be natural. Images entered to Monochrome section must comply with  PSA definitions.

Each image must have a unique title. Once an image has been accepted in a PSA Recognized exhibition, that same image, or a like “in camera” or a “reproduction” duplicate of that image:

i. May not be re-entered in any section of the same Division Star Ratings class in that exhibition regardless of media, format, or title.

ii. May not be re-titled for entry in any other PSA Recognized exhibition. Words such as “Untitled” and “No Title” are not acceptable as part or all of an image’s title, nor are camera capture filenames or titles consisting of only numbers.

5. JUDGING

5.1 A panel of three judges will assess all images. Judges are selected from international art community. They represent high standard in art and creative photography.

This year the judges are:

Derek Galon, MA, FRPS, FOPS (Dominica)

Richard Kirby, BS (UK)

Sandra Vivas-Guerro, MFA (Dominica)

Judging is anonymous, photographers’ identity is not revealed until after judging finishes. Large format, calibrated HDTV monitors 42” screen size, with 1920×1080 pixels using sRGB space will be used for judging. Judges reserve the right to NOT give all medals/awards if quality of submitted works is not adequate to receive such honours.

All participants will be notified on status of their entries as per our schedule calendar. Finalists and winners’ list will be also published on this site.

6. SHORTLISTED IMAGES

6.1 Shortlisted images are our finalists, from which awards will be voted.

Acceptance rate in all sections is limited to 30% maximum in each section. This assures that overall quality of accepted works remains high.

6.1.1 All finalist images will be shown in Salon digital catalog, and also on our site (in reduced size to protect authors’ rights), and during the Winners Presentation Gala in Roseau, Dominica.

6.2 A list of authors and shortlisted works will be published both in our catalog and on our site.

6.2.1 You should have taken the picture with a camera that will enable high resolution images if needed for short-listed entries. A high-quality jpeg files are preferred.

No responsibility can be taken by the organizers for images that are incorrectly submitted.

6.3 All images not shortlisted will be deleted from our server within 48 hours of the announcement of the winners.

7. WINNERS

7.1 Winners will be chosen from among those short-listed entrants. All winners will be notified by email and a prizes will be given/sent on a date stated on the Web site as per Salon calendar. List of winners and finalists will be also published on this site.

7.2 The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Should the entries in any category fall below the standard required by the Competition organizers and the judges, then the organizers reserve the right not to award prizes, or award only a part of them.

As we heard of some unfortunate situations when disappointed participants behaved improperly towards judges, we need to state this:

No aggressive, threatening messages to the jury or organizers will be tolerated. Individuals harassing the judges or our organization will be barred from future Salons, with their entries removed without refund. Further legal actions may be initiated, FIAP and PSA may receive names of such individuals.

7.3 Winners are invited to Roseau, Dominica, for the Presentation Gala evening (venue tba), to receive their medals/awards in person. Selected winning images may be printed at organizers’ cost for an additional exhibition of best images organized in Roseau, Dominica, for benefit or art photography lovers unable to attend the presentation. We would contact such winners for additional permission and higher resolution images. All such printed images will be destroyed after ending of exhibition, not later than 1 month after Winners Presentation gala.

8. COPIES

Please ensure that you keep copies of submitted images. The organizers will take all reasonable steps to ensure the safe storage and back up of entries, but cannot be held responsible for exceptional circumstances including Acts of God.

9. PRIZES

9.1 Main Prizes. Please go to our Prizes page for details.

9.2 There is no prize alternative and none of the prizes are transferable. We are not responsible for unclaimed awards. We will do our best to contact all winners, but if we won’t be able to contact winner within 60 days, the award may be void as unclaimed.  (example may be a change of address by winner, change of contact details, etc. – without notifying us.) Cash awards are transferred by PayPal only. Since extra medals are not available from FIAP, PSA and other organizations, we are not responsible for lost parcels and can not re-send any medals lost by mail service.

10. COPYRIGHT AND PERMISSIONS

10.1 By submitting images to the Competition, you confirm and warrant that:

10.1.1 you are the sole author of each entry and that it is your original work;

10.1.2 you are the sole owner of the copyright in each image;

10.1.3 you have the permission of those pictured in the image (or, where the image shows any persons under 18, the consent of their parent/guardian) for the usage rights required by Ozone Zone Photo Salon and will indemnify Ozone Zone organizers, against any claims made by any third parties in respect of such infringement;

10.1.4 you have not licensed or disposed of any rights in the image that would conflict with uses to be made by Ozone Zone Photo Salon;

10.1.5 you have received any necessary permissions from the owner(s) of property included in submitted images for the usage rights required by Ozone Zone Photo Salon.

10.1.6 you will be responsible for any claim by any third party in respect of your entry.

The exhibition assumes no liability of any misuse of copyright. All final work must be on photographic film, or on electronic file, or on photographic or electronic print material, mounting excepted. Images may be altered, either digitally or otherwise, by the entrant. Artwork or computer graphics created by the entrant may be incorporated if the photographic content predominates subject to Nature, Photo Travel and Photojournalism divisional restrictions.

11. USAGE AND LICENSING OF SHORTLISTED PHOTOGRAPHS

11.1 If your image is NOT shortlisted it will be deleted within 48 hours of the end of the competition.

11.2 If your image is short-listed your image will be displayed on our Finalists and Winners page and in catalog (with usual credits), and may be used to promote the Competition. For avoidance of doubt, no free usage of any photograph is permitted by Ozone Zone Photo Salon, or any of its partners or

sponsors outside the scope of the Ozone Zone Photo Salon competition and exhibition promotion.

11.3.1 You grant Ozone Zone Photo Salon and its supporting partners a non-exclusive, irrevocable, royalty free license to reproduce, enlarge, publish or exhibit, on any media, the photographs for any purpose connected with the Competition and its promotion. This may include, but is not limited to: (a) inclusion on the Site and on the websites of sponsors and supporters;

(b) inclusion in associated catalogs;

(c) display at any associated exhibitions;

(d) use in press releases to be distributed to national, regional & specialist press giving information about or promoting the Competition.

11.3.2 You also agree that the organizers can sub-license images to the media for reproduction in connection with the Competition and Exhibition only. Ozone Zone Photo Salon will make every effort to ensure that name credits are given to any photograph published in any medium.

11.3.3  One of prizes is publication of selected images in a photography magazine, along with interview. If you are selected for this award we will contact you with details. You have right to decline publishing your images and/or the interview.

13. REFUND POLICY

All entries are final, no refund.
